The theme of this quarter's Benefits Buzz was "Grow Your Network". Jill Jensen, membership engagement chair, and Jill Syler, director, shared six strategies to develop and grow professional and business networks using the membership benefits provided by IAEE. We got to meet our newest members, learn new skills, and get the most out of IAEE membership.
In advance of ECA Legislated Action Day, Julie Kagy, Tommy Goodwin, and Julie Pazina shared strategies attendees in the program can use to advocate on behalf of the events industry with federal, state, county and local leaders. Examples of positive outcomes from direct advocacy with elected leaders were outlined including the recent FTC rule addressing common event scams.

In addition to the creative possibilities, the discussion included ethical issues, data quality, and malacious use. Registered guests can re-watch the video for 30 days after the presentation.
Trade show organizers and suppliers are no strangers to stress and the events industry continues to be in the Top 10 Most Stressful jobs. Internationally recognized Mindfulness and Meditation speaker and trainer, Lee Papa shared what stress is, how it effects our mind and bodies, and strategies to initiate positive change and practice mindfulness.
Golfers from across the US spent an exciting day of golf at Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach, CA. The tournament began at noon with the popular Tiger/Phil Closest to the Hole competition and raising funds for the IAEE National DE&I Scholarship. An 18-hole scramble followed with golfers and non-golfers enjoying a cocktail reception filled with raffle prizes and a silent auction benefitting the California Family Life Center.
Guests from Las Vegas and Southern California participated in not one, not two, but three exciting tours in one afternoon! Starting with the LVCC Loop at LVCC North Convention Center, guests rode took a Tesla to the West Hall for a tour of the LVCC Expansion. Afterwards, there was a hosted walk through of InfoComm. The afternoon ended with a networking experience at the Renaissance Hotel.
Panelists from the hospitality industry, including sports, entertainment, events, trade shows, and weddings shared their insights to a room filled with students enrolled in UNLV's William F. Harrah Hospitality College program and event professionals. Afterwards, the group enjoyed a fun gamified networking experience on the beautiful Hospitality Hall patio overlooking the Las Vegas Strip.
